Family recollections and uncertain details are noted separately from the archival sources linked below. ### Childhood and languages - Full name: Julius Sørensen. Also uses Julius Soerensen and Julius Sorensen online. - Born on 10 July 1998 at Gentofte Hospital in Denmark. - Early childhood: lived in Vedbæk, near Copenhagen, before moving to Sweden at age two. - Ages two to five: lived in Stockholm, Sweden. Learned to speak Swedish before Danish. - Ages five to nineteen: lived in Holte, in the Copenhagen area, after returning to Denmark. - Moved out of the family home at age nineteen. - Languages: fluent in Danish and Swedish, including spoken Swedish. ### Family background: parents - Father: Lars Oksbjerre, formerly Lars Sørensen, born 19 August 1958. - Mother: Anna Sørensen, born Anna Panait on 20 October 1958 in Milicz, Poland. - Anna took Lars's surname when they married. They divorced when Julius was thirteen. - Lars subsequently remarried and changed his surname to Oksbjerre. Anna did not remarry and retained Sørensen. Julius also retained the surname Sørensen. ### Maternal family and migration history - Maternal grandmother: Krystyna Panait, born Puzichowska in 1936. The Danish parliamentary record gives her birthplace as Bialozorce. It is unclear whether this matches the place name remembered in the family from Volhynia. - According to the family account, Krystyna fled her home in Volhynia during the massacres, reaching Tarnopol and subsequently Milicz, where she met Vladimir Panait. - Maternal grandfather: Vladimir Panait, born in 1931 in Techirghiol, Romania. His mother was of Polish descent. His route from Romania to Milicz remains unknown. - The parliamentary record lists the couple's marriage in 1957 and their arrival in Denmark in 1969. - The family's account places them in Milicz, where Anna was born, and subsequently Wrocław, where their son Peter was born. They later travelled through Vienna before settling in Copenhagen in 1969. - Maternal uncle: Peter Panait Løjmand, Anna's brother, born in Wrocław. ### Paternal family and surname history - Paternal grandmother: Jette Sørensen, born 5 December 1932. Birth name believed to be Marri Jensen, but unconfirmed. - Biological paternal grandfather: Hilmar Adolf Jensen, born in 1928. Jette and Hilmar are Lars's parents and divorced in 1962. - Jette subsequently married Frank Sørensen, born in 1928. Frank was Lars's stepfather, not Julius's biological grandfather. Lars took the surname Sørensen from Frank. Jette and Frank divorced in 1992. - Paternal aunt: Charlotte Valerius Sørensen, born 18 April 1966, the daughter of Jette and Frank. She is Lars's maternal half-sister. - The Sørensen surname therefore entered Julius's paternal family through Frank, while his biological paternal grandfather was Hilmar Adolf Jensen. ### School and university - Around 2004: started in the reception year (0. klasse) at Dronninggårdskolen in Holte. The starting year is approximate. - Around third grade: asked to transfer to Nordsjællands Grundskole og Gymnasium (NGG). Wanted smaller classes and more academic challenge, particularly in science. Valued NGG's teachers, classes capped at approximately twenty pupils, and early teaching of science subjects separately. - 2014: completed primary and lower-secondary school at NGG. Several close friendships began there and continue today. - 2014 to 2017: continued at NGG for upper-secondary education, with a focus on mathematics, chemistry, and physics. - 2017 to 2018: took a gap year. - 2018: began studying electrical engineering at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), partly influenced by his father's educational background. Left after approximately six months because hardware engineering was not the right fit. - 2019 to 2023: completed a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in Business Engineering at DTU. - 2023 to 2025: completed a Master of Science (MSc) in Business Analytics at DTU, specialising in predictive analytics, including machine learning, time series, regression, classification, and clustering. ### Bachelor's thesis - Title: Price optimization of home loans for private customers: Utilizing classification machine learning algorithms. - Completed as part of the BEng at DTU in collaboration with Danske Bank. - Investigated classification models for predicting private-customer home-loan application outcomes, followed by a price-optimisation algorithm. - Compared eight models on historical 2022 application data. A Random Forest model was selected for the optimisation work. - The proposed pricing approach showed theoretical revenue potential, alongside significant risks from prediction errors and limited model generalisation. The thesis estimates were not realised business results. ### Master's thesis - Topic: hierarchical time-series forecasting applied to electricity prices, using DK1 intraday market data from January 2023 through December 2024. - Examined the challenges posed by heavy tails, volatility clustering, and other non-Gaussian characteristics. Prices were transformed into differences to support temporal aggregation. - Embedded hierarchical reconciliation directly into the loss function of a neural network combining fully connected and long short-term memory (LSTM) layers. - In the experiments, forecast accuracy improved by 7.9% over a naïve model and 6.5% over a neural-network baseline without reconciliation. Post-reconciliation of baseline neural-network and ARMAX forecasts provided negligible or negative improvements. - Completed at DTU in 2025. Available through DTU's thesis/library system; not a journal publication. ### Finding an interest in analytics - Completed a six-month business-analyst internship at Novo Nordisk during the BEng, working with business intelligence, data analysis, and data pipelines. Tools included SQL, Alteryx, Power BI, Tableau, and Python. - Discovered an interest in programming through analytics and its practical applications during the internship, after finding little enjoyment in hardware engineering and other kinds of programming. - Later work at Danske Bank included time series, classification, optimisation, analytical applications, and automated LLM workflows. One area involved clustering text embeddings and generating analytical input for pricing proposals. - Interested in technology for its practical uses, product value, business implications, and potential to create abundance. The same priorities guide work on Oplema. ### Creative background and interests - Rode trick scooters from roughly third through ninth grade, was ranked sixth in Denmark, and appeared on Danish children's television channel Ramasjang to discuss and demonstrate riding. - Switched to BMX during upper-secondary school and the gap year, and stopped riding around the start of university. - Self-taught in filming and video editing since approximately age ten, starting with scooter and BMX videos. Long-standing interests include video editing, visual effects, simulation, and filmmaking. - Most familiar with Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects, at close to an advanced level. Also highly proficient in Illustrator, Lightroom, and Photoshop, and comfortable working in DaVinci Resolve. - Recent creative experiments involve using Model Context Protocol (MCP) integrations with Blender and DaVinci Resolve to explore the capabilities of AI-assisted editing and creative tools. - Ran the BMX YouTube channel @JuliusSorensenBMX, separate from the Premiere Pro and After Effects tutorial channel. It had 1,910 subscribers as of November 2026. - Hid the BMX channel's videos during early job applications. The videos were hidden, not deleted. - Interested in original cinema and the craft behind visual effects. Other interests include equities and investing, artificial intelligence, data science, software, biotechnology, and practical applications of space technology. ### Background sources and profiles - [Julius Sorensen BMX on YouTube](https://www.youtube.com/@JuliusSorensenBMX): Earlier BMX channel; videos are hidden, not deleted. - [Folketing naturalisation proposal, 1975-76: entries 484 and 485](https://www.folketingstidende.dk/samling/19751/lovforslag/L273/19751_L273_som_fremsat.pdf): Archival entries for Krystyna Panait, born Puzichowska, and Vladimir Panait.
